Digital Identity Research Group Workshop: ‘Deep Fakes and Criminal Law’

Overview : The widespread use of Artificial Intelligence, (AI) technology has made it easier to create images, audio or video images, (videos) of individuals which are so elaborately synthesised that they are indistinguishable from the real thing at first glance. The relationship between such ‘Deep Fakes’ and the so-called Revenge Pornography Prevention Act, and the Child Pornography Law, remains open for further discussion. In this workshop, as a part of the legal protection for the identity of individuals in cyberspace, (which is equally important regarding CA’s), we will attempt to organise the interpretation of criminal law and legislative directions.
